TabCmdr's way
Close the rest of the window with TabCmdr
TabCmdr is a keyboard launcher that lives in your browser. Its Close Other Tabs command keeps the tab you’re on and closes everything else in the window, apart from pinned tabs.
Before you start: add TabCmdr from the Chrome Web Store. It has a 7-day free trial and needs no account.
Step 1: Open the palette on the tab you want to keep
Press ⌘+K on a Mac or Ctrl+K on Windows and Linux. To check what’s open first, press → for the Tabs filter, which lists tabs from every window. Pinned tabs have their own Pinned heading.

Step 2: Type close other
Close Other Tabs shows up under Commands, already highlighted.

close other finds Close Other Tabs.Step 3: Press Enter
The palette closes and so do the other tabs in this window. A message at the bottom of the page says how many closed, such as Closed 4 tabs, or No other tabs to close if there were none.

What Close Other Tabs leaves alone
- The tab you’re on.
- Pinned tabs in this window.
- Your other windows and every tab in them.
Each tab it closes goes into Recently Closed, so you can bring any of them back with :r. See how to reopen closed tabs for the details.
Try it on your own tabs
