TabCmdr's way
Take the tab you’re on out of its group
TabCmdr is a keyboard launcher that lives in your browser. Before you start: add TabCmdr from the Chrome Web Store. It has a 7-day free trial and needs no account.
Step 1: Open the palette
Press ⌘+K on a Mac or Ctrl+K on Windows and Linux.
Step 2: Type group
Remove Tab from Group shows up under Commands.

group finds Remove Tab from Group.Step 3: Press Enter
The tab you’re on leaves its group and stays open, the palette closes, and Removed from group shows at the bottom of the page. If the tab isn’t in a group, the message says Tab not in a group and nothing changes.
See which group each tab is in
Tabs in a group show the group’s name on their row, in the group’s color. Here, the Figma and Notion tabs are in a group called Launch.

Remove another tab from its group
Type part of the tab’s title or address so it’s the highlighted row, then click Remove from group on that row.

You see Removed from group and stay on the page you’re on. On a tab that isn’t in a group, the button tells you Tab not in a group instead. TabCmdr takes tabs out one at a time; to ungroup a whole group at once, use Chrome’s Ungroup. Tab groups in TabCmdr has more.
Try it on your own tabs
Works in Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc, Vivaldi and Opera.
